Vestibular Rehabilitation after Vestibulopathy Focusing on the Application of Virtual Reality

Human postural control is regulated by the vestibular, somatosensory, and visual systems. These types of sensory information are integrated in central nervous system to ascertain body’s position space. Proper functioning senses necessary for body maintain equilibrium. Bilateral vestibulopathy (BVP) a condition which bilateral peripheral vestibular function reduced. Its treatment includes rehabilitation (VeR), balance training, counseling, treating underlying cause, avoiding further damage system. As VeR often tedious patients, patient motivation required or patients may drop out program. To solve this problem, recent years, there have been increasing reports using virtual reality, increases vestibulo-ocular reflex gain decreased dizziness inducing adaptation. In review, we discuss VeR, particularly BVP, reality.
